Moshi and Kilimanjaro Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Moshi

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Take this opportunity to relax, meet your guides, and prepare for the adventure ahead. Enjoy a restful night in your comfortable accommodations.

Day 2

Rongai Gate (1,950m) to Simba Camp (2,650m)

After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the Rongai Gate to start your trek. The trail begins in lush montane forest, offering a serene and gradual ascent. You’ll reach Simba Camp by the late afternoon, nestled amidst beautiful scenery, where you'll spend the night and begin acclimatizing.

Day 3

Simba Camp (2,650m) to Kikelelwa Camp (3,600m)

Today’s trek takes you through diverse landscapes, transitioning from forest to moorland. As you ascend, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the mountain and surrounding plains. The hike lasts approximately 5-6 hours and ends at Kikelelwa Camp, a picturesque location surrounded by unique rock formations.

Day 4

Kikelelwa Camp (3,600m) to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)

Embark on a stunning hike through the alpine desert zone towards Mawenzi Tarn Camp. This 4-5 hour trek offers breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak and the expansive, rugged terrain. The camp, located beside a tarn lake, provides a dramatic and scenic backdrop for your overnight stay.

Day 5

Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and Descend to Horombo Hut (3,700m)

Prepare for the ultimate challenge as you set out before dawn for the summit push. The climb to Uhuru Peak involves navigating rocky and icy terrain. After reaching the highest point in Africa and taking in the breathtaking views, you'll descend to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest, completing approximately 12-14 hours of trekking.

Day 6

Horombo Hut (3,700m) to Rongai Gate (1,950m)

Enjoy a more relaxed descent from Horombo Hut through lush forest back to the Rongai Gate. This 6-7 hour trek offers a pleasant conclusion to your climb, with opportunities to reflect on your achievements. At the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate and then transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a celebratory dinner.

Day 7

Departure

After a final breakfast and some last-minute shopping or relaxation in Moshi, you’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. Bid farewell to the stunning landscapes and the memories of your incredible climb.
